KATHANDU, Dec 19: A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday decided to promote Major General Pradip Bikram Rana to the post of Lieutenant General and install him to the post of Chief of Staff of the Nepal Army (NA) and to transfer Lieutenant General Pawan Bahadur Pandey to the Office of the Chief of General Staff.
Briefing journalists about the decisions taken by the Council of Ministers after the meeting, Government Spokesman and Minister for Information and Communications, Madhav Prasad Poudel, said the Council of Ministers also decided to constitute a five-member delegation under the convenorship of the Director General of the Department of Electricity Development for receiving an assistance of approximately Rs. 2.92 billion from the Saudui Development Fund for the construction of the Budhiganga Hydroelectricity Project in Achham district and to hold talks in that regard.
The Cabinet meeting decided to mint and issue a maximum of 3 thousand pieces of silver coins with the face value of one thousand rupees on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of the National Museum and a maximum of four thousand cupro-nikel coins with a face value of Rs. 50 on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of Nepal Scouts.
The Council of Ministers decided to extend the term of the Freed Kamaiya Rehabilitation Problem Resolution Commission until the end of Ashar, 2071 BS.
Minister Poudel said that the Cabinet meeting today also decided to promote Joint Attorney Mahesh Kumar Thapa to the post of Judicial Attorney General.
The Cabinet meeting further decided to give 0.3 hectare forested land to the Bridhdha Sahara Ashram, an old-age home, at Tansen, Palpa for its use on the condition that it will fulfill different conditions.
Minister Poudel also said that the Cabinet decided to hold the meeting of the Nepal-India Inter-Government Committee on Commerce in Kathmandu on December 21 and 22, which would be participated in by a delegation led by the Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies on behalf Nepal.
