KATHMANDU, Feb. 8: President of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal Kamal Thapa has said that the proposal of UCPN (Maoist) to form an election government under the leadership of Chief Justice Khilraj Regmi to hold elections within May was a welcome step.

At a press conference organized by the party here on Friday, party Chairman Thapa welcomed the proposal made by the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman for an election government chaired by the current Chief Justice to hold elections this May.

Delaying elections on any pretext would invite more foreign intervention, he said.

He also claimed that elections held under the leadership of any of the seven political parties would not be impartial.

As the parties have failed as far as elections are concerned, forming an election government under the leadership of the head of the judiciary is the best way forward, Thapa added
