KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has been re-elected vice-chairman of the Socialist International (SI) during its meeting held on 4-5 February at Cascais in Portugal.
According to a press statement issued by the party on Wednesday, the former prime minister has also been elected chairman of the SI’s Asia and Pacific Regional Committee. The meeting was participated by 90 member parties of the SI.
Established in 1951, the SI is a global association of political parties seeking to establish democratic socialism. A total of 161 countries from around the world are members to the SI.
