DHANKUTA, Feb 6: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said on Wednesday that the opposition parties´ ongoing agitation will finally topple the current government.
Speaking at a press meet organized by Nepal Press Union in Dhankuta, Deuba claimed that opposition parties are gaining public participation in their nationwide protest against the government.
Deuba was of the opinion that there could be no alternative to NC President Sushil Koirala leading a new government and said the leadership of next government under UCPN (Maoist) is not acceptable to his party.
He further said the ruling Maoist party is inclined to imposing a despotic rule and accused the party of trying to shield its cadres involved in criminal activities.
Stating that UCPN (Maoist) is doing everything in its power to prolong its stay in government, the NC leader warned that the country will plunge into a major disaster if political consensus is not forged in time.
