HETAUDA, Feb. 5: The leaders of 14 different groups have so far put forth their group´s views in the closed-door session on the third day of the ongoing Seventh General Convention of the Unified CPN (Maoist) here.

Party spokesman Agni Sapkota informed a news conference here today that in the closed session discussions are being held on the political document presented by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and on the party statute presented by Sashi Sherchan.

Group leaders Renu Dhal, Janak Budha, Ramesh Malla, Trilochan Bhatta, DP Dhakal, Chandr Bahdur Thapa, Baburam Gutm, Ush Devkota, GaneRegmi, Shym Shresth, Bir Bahadur Kunwr, Nara Bahadur Bista and Tek Bhadur Rawal presented their group´s comments in the closed session.

Sapkota said that in the closed session today party vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha called for making the topic of nationality clearer and demanded that the unequal treaties signed with India be scrapped.

Party spokesman Sapkota asserted that the party´s stated view that no any compromise should be made on any of the topics as national independence, people´s democracy and livelihood was intact and it would remain so.

"The proposal for holding a referendum on the border dispute that figures in the political report would be corrected," he said, adding that the core issue is ideology and that if there was clarity on ideology all topics would automatically become clear.

It is stated that in course of the discussions the party delegates have come up with suggestions like removing the term Maoist ideology and replacing it with Maoism in the directive principles, clarifying the issue of class analysis, giving high praise to the People´s War and the People´s Liberation Army, concretising the issue of national independence and making the party committees strong.
