KATHMANDU, Jan. 19: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has vowed to save the life of Amar Bahadur Bam who is in a death row in the Al-abir Central Jail in Dubai.

Receiving a memorandum submitted by the Nepal Association of Global Cooperation (NAGC) Nepal Chapter here today, the prime minister said he will save Bam by any means through diplomatic initiatives on his and the government´s behalf.

NAGC handed over a memorandum to the prime minister again today as the commitments made by the government to that end in the past were not implemented, said Mani Nepali Paneru, Central President of NAGC.

The memorandum calls for the prime minister to arrange a visit to Dubai soon for saving Bam´s life and also addressing other problems faced by the Nepali workers in Dubai. It has also called on the government to save the life of Hari Bahadur Ghale of Nuwakot who is facing death penalty in Malaysia.

Likewise, the memorandum calls for adopting alertness on issues of nationality and foreign investment and for taking seriously the issue of manpower companies abroad taking undue benefit from and exploiting the Nepali workers.

NAGC, through the memorandum, also demanded that the departments and bodies concerned should take initiatives for resolving the problems faced by Nepalis in foreign countries, and that the Nepalese Embassy in Malaysia should be better managed.

NAGC plans to submit the memorandum also to UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala, chairman of the CPN (UML) Jhalanath Khanal, CPN-Maoist chairman Mohan Baidya and chairman of the United Madhesi Front Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar.

NAGC central president Paneru was accompanied by office-bearers and central members of the Association´s Nepal Chapter while submitting the memorandum.
