RATNANAGAR, Jan 19: Five persons have lost consciousness due to a lightning strike coupled with rain in Kaule VDC of Chitwan district. Locals said over 12 persons have been injured in the lightning strike.
Those losing consciousness are Suresh Gurung, Nirmala Gurung, Devendra Gurung, Prakash Gurung and Nita Gurung of Kaule VDC-8, local Resham Bahadur Gurung said.

They have been rushed to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment. Six families and guests in the houses were injured in the incident.
At least six telephone lines have been disrupted while television sets and other electric devices were also damaged in the lightning, it is said.Details of the incident are awaited.
Meanwhile, six persons were injured in a lightning strike occurred at Gajarkot VDC-3 in Tahanun district on Friday evening. The injured are Puspa Thapa, Dil Maya Thapa, Bale Maya Thapa, Bhumisara Thapa, Man Maya Ale and Nan Maya Ale.
All the injured are out of risk and are receiving treatment at Bhimad Primany Health Center. Likewise, 11 passengers were injured in a road accident at Darechowk of Chitwan last night. Condition of two is critical, the District Police Office, Chitwan said.
The accident took place after a Bhairahawa bound bus (Lu 1 Kha 5857) and a truck (Na 4 Kha 5209) from the opposite direction collided head on at Darechowk VDC-4.
