KATHMANDU, Dec. 25: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has been conferred the title of honorary Doctor of Law by the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Tuesday.
BHU Chancellor Karan Singh conferred the title on President Dr Yadav amidst a special function organized at the University, Banaras.
After receiving the title, President Dr Yadav delivered a brief speech and said the title he has been conferred would help elevate Nepal´s glory.
It would also help further cement the longtime relations between Nepal and India, he added.
On the occasion, Indian President Pranav Mukharjee said Banaras was the confluence of erudite people from Nepal and India. Many Nepalis have studied at the BHU, he added.
President Dr Yadav left for New Delhi today.
Before leaving for Delhi, he visited different religious sites, including the Kashi Bishwonath and Sankatmochan Hanuman Temple of Banaras
