  Bookings open for Ford Focus

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Go Automobiles -- the sole authorized distributor of Ford vehicles in Nepal -- has opened booking for Ford Focus, a premium segment sedan, in the Nepali market. According to the company, only the top end model Titanium in the Focus series will be unveiled in the domestic market.

Though the company has opened booking for Titanium, customers have to wait for another two months to get the car.

"We will be importing the vehicle from Ford´s manufacturing plant in Germany. However, we will have limited number of vehicles only and the customers have to wait till January as the company has not released the product for Nepal," said Akash Glochha, director of the company.

The new Ford Focus comes with a kinetic design that makes the car look like it is in motion even when it is parked. The extraordinary design combined with new technology and features make the car stand out.

According to Golchha, the car will provide stiff competition to cars like Toyota Corolla, Skoda Laura and Honda Civic.

The sedan is equipped with a 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT engine with automatic transmission. The car comes with attractive features like auto headlamp with rain sensitive wipers, interior mirrors, auto dimming rear view, follow me home lighting front fog lamps, rear parking sensor, voice command with Bluetooth connectivity, four way adjustable steering column, trip computers and dual tone horn, among others.

According to the company, Focus is made up of advance materials like ultra high strength boron steel that has fortified the new Focus, adding protection while reducing weight. The use of advanced materials has helped Focus meet crash regulation standards.

"Toyota Corolla has been the world´s number 1 selling car for the last 35 years, but the advanced technology and additional features has made Ford Focus grab the position of Corolla and has become the world´s number one car," said Golchha.

For the safety of driver and passengers, Focus is equipped with front seat-mounted side airbags as well as front and rear side curtain airbags in addition to the dual-stage driver and front seat passenger airbags. The seats are also made comfortable with the use of partial leather.

The Ford Focus offers voice activated SYNC which replaces many of the traditional buttons, knobs and gauges with clear, colourful LCD screens and five-way buttons. This helps the driver keep his or her eyes on the road and hands on the wheel even while getting busy with a phone call or changing the music.

With the help of SYNC, the 4.2 inch information cluster screen can be customized to display information relevant to the driver just by clicking a button, tapping the touch screen or using voice command.

According to the company, premium sedan lovers are the target customers for Ford Focus at it is quite expensive. The top end model of Ford Focus Titanium in petrol variant --the only option available -- will be priced at around Rs 5.7 million.
