LALITPUR, Nov 12: Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS), Dr. Sangita Bhandari, has called on the doctors and medical staff at the Patan Hospital who are on agitation to come to talks, immediately abandoning the protest programmes.
VC Bhandari held a news conference here on Sunday and urged the doctors and the medical staff at the hospital to seek solution to the problems through table talks and negotiations.
She also urged the agitating side to respect and abide by the court order, to provide the health services to the general public without causing any hindrance and to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to them.
VC Bhandari also said that she was committed to the goal and objectives of PAHS and did not intend to deviate from the provisions made in the related Acts and Regulations. She refuted the charges leveled against her by the protesting side.
Doctors and medical staff at Patan Hospital run under PAHS are agitated after VC Bhandari appointed Prof. Dr. Saumya Bhattacharya as the Rector of the Academy a month back. They allege that the appointment was done in an arbitrary manner by disregarding the qualified senior doctors at the academy.
