  Cheques handover to former combatants over

RATNANAGAR, (Chitwan), Nov. 11: The cheque handover (second installment) to the former fighters of the Maoist party opting for voluntary retirement in all the seven division camps across the country completed today.

According to the Army Integration Special Committee Secretariat, of 13,922 combatants choosing voluntary retirement, 13,753 received the cheques.

As many as 169 fighters were absent during the cheque distribution. It was already agreed to provide Rs. 500,000 to 800,000 to one combatant opting for voluntary retirement as per the rank. They were already provided half portion of the financial package.

A total of 1,238 combatants received the amount from the Ilam-based first division camp, while 914 from the Sindhuli-based second division camp, 2,704 from the Chitwan-based third division camp, 2,114 from the Nawalparasi-based fourth division camp, 1613 from the Rolpa-based fifth division camp, 2358 from the Surkhet-based sixth division camp and 2,778 received cheques from the Kailali-based seventh division camps, it is learnt.


Similarly, 18 fighters were absent in Chitwan, while 31 in Ilam, 10 in Sindhuli, 27 in Nawalparasi, 21 in Surkhet and 34 were no present in Kailali. The deadline for distributing the cheqie of second installment was until Saturday.

The combatants left to take the second installment can receive the cheques from Kathmandu till November 20, said the Secretariat. Around 3.5 billion was allocated for the combatants opted for voluntary retirement, said Secretariat Officiating Secretary Madhu Bilas Pundit
