BHAKTAPUR, Nov 11: Of the 62 primary schools and 37 lower secondary schools of Bhaktapur district, three primary and three lower secondary schools have nil student and five primary and three lower secondary have less than 10 students.

According to a report prepared by the District Education Office (DEO) Bhaktapur, on the educational status of the district, six have nil student and eight have less than 10.

Primary schools which do not have students at all are Krishna Primary of Sudal, Manakamana Primary of Chhaling, and Dakshinkali of Tathali, and Natyashwori Lower Secondary of Chhaling and Chandeswori and Balbodh Shanti Lower Secondary of Bhaktapur Municipality.

Likewise, Saya Bangal of Sudal, Bahehiti Mai of Bageswori, Bhim and Chitrapur of Dadhikot, Nawajyoti of Chittapol, Ashapuri of Sipadol and Ganesh of Bageswori, and Binayank Saraswoti Lower Secondary of Changu, have students less than ten. In these schools there are students ranging from two to eight students.

However, the teachers are receiving their monthly salaries unabatedly, but the physical infrastructures are going useless.

Caretaker teachers have been appointed in the schools with nil students for caretaking of the school, said District Education Officer (DEO) Deepak Kafle, adding if there are no students until the end of this session, their registration will be canceled by April next year.

However, Headmaster of Dakshinkali Primary School, Ram Krishna Chhukan said the Education Office has deliberately made statistics of nil students. This was because of wrong reporting by school inspectors, he added.
