KIRTIPUR, Nov. 10: Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has said the protests announced by the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) would not get public support.

Speaking at an inaugural programme of the Kirtipur Newa Cultural Museum and greetings exchange function on the occasion of the New Year of Nepal Sambat 1133, he claimed that the protest organized by the NC, UML, and some other parties was against federalism and therefore a regression.

UCPN-Maoist Chairman Dahal further said that the UCPN-Maoist remained adamant on the identity-based federalism and against the old unitary state due to which political consensus was not forged among them.

Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai´s Political Advisor and Coordinator of the Newa State Conference organizing committee, Devendra Paudel, said conspiracies have been plotted to backtrack the nation at a condition when it was passing through a political transition.

Chairman of the Newa Cultural Foundation, Dilip Maharjan, discussed the objectives of the establishment of the Newa Cultural Foundation and said the museum was established to preserve the cultures that are on the verge of disappearance.

Similarly, Vice-chancellor of the Tribhuvan University (TU) Prof. Dr. Hira Bahadur Maharjan stressed the need of preserving the old cultures and expressed his confidence that the museum would turn to be a milestone for protecting and promoting the old cultures.

Various personalities contributed in preserving the musical instruments and music for a long time were honored on the occasion
