KATHMANDU, Nov 9: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday said President Dr Ram Baran Yadav would not block the budget that the government plans to introduce through ordinance even if consensus could not be forged among political parties.
“The president has said the new budget would come even without political consensus,” Dahal told reporters after his meeting with the president Friday morning. He added that the state head urged him to take initiative for consensus to end the existing political stalemate.
Dahal´s meeting with the president comes on the wake of leaders from opposition parties meeting Dr Yadav Thursday, urging him in writing to block the new budget if brought without reaching a common understanding among political parties.
Dahal reached the presidential residence, Shital Niwas this morning and requested President Yadav not to block the budget, saying that he has been putting up his utmost effort to forge consensus among the political parties.
According to Dahal, President Yadav, in response, urged him to seek national consensus within this Saturday.
