LAHAN, Nov 8: One person has been killed and 13 others injured in a collision between two passenger buses in Pansera-7, Saptari along the East West Highway on Thursday morning.
According to Madhu Thapa, chief at Traffic Police Office, Saptari, Ram Chandra Gupta of Rajbiraj-8, the driver of the bus (Na 4 Kha 4735), en-route to Kakadbhitta from the capital, was killed in the mishap.
The bus collided head-on with another passenger bus with the number plate (Na 4 Kha 6633) heading to Janakpur from Rajbiraj.
The incident occurred when the Kakadbhitta-bound bus while trying to overtake another vehicle collided with the other bus coming from the opposite direction, Thapa said.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Rajbiraj Hospital for post-mortem.
All the injured were admitted at Lahan-based Friends Model Hospital for medical treatment.
Later on, seven among the injured were referred to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, for further treatment.
The remaining injured have been undergoing treatment at Lahan-based Friends Model Hospital.
The remaining injured passengers have also sustained serious injuries. They could not be taken elsewhere for further treatment in lack of ambulances.
