  APF clinch title in Janakpur

KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Armed Police Force (APF) clinched the title of the First Deepak Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament in Janakpur on Wednesday. APF defeated Samstipur, India by four wickets in the final.

Samstipur won the toss and elected to bat first. Samastipur was all out for 96 runs by the end of 20 overs. Nishant Kumar scored 42 runs off 52 balls and Asfan Khan added 22 runs off 42 balls. Rom Shrestha and Basant Regmi were superb with the ball and claimed three wickets each for APF. Shrestha´s bowling figure was 4-0-9-3 and Regmi´s figure was 4-0-2-3.

Chasing the 97-run target, APF reached 98/6 in 19.2 overs. Sharad Vesawkar contributed 30 runs off 30 balls and Sanjay Shrestha scored 29 runs off 42 balls to seal the victory for APF. Sankalp Saurav and Ashish Sanyal claimed two wickets each for the Samastipur team.

APF bagged Rs 41,000 along with the winner´s trophy while Samastipur received Rs 21,000 as the runner-up.

APF´s Rom Shrestha was adjudged man-of-the-final and the best bowler of the tournament. Shrestha received Rs 5,000 as the best bowler.

Vesawkar was awarded with the man-of-the-series trophy and Rs 5,000. Asfan Khan of Samastipur was adjudged the best batsman of the tournament.
