UCPN (Maoist) fails to make its probe report public today

PRAKASH TIMALSINA

KATHMANDU, Oct 19: A probe commission headed by Amik Sherchan failed to make public a report into allegation of massive financial irregularities citing busy schedule of its members.

“We failed to make the report public as the members are busy with party works outside the valley,” Sherchan said. It will be made public after holding a meeting with its members after Dashain, Sherchan added.

Organizing a press meet earlier, the commission had vowed to make the report public today.

According to him, 20 complaints of the 65 received were focused on advices to the party leaders.

Maoist had formed two separate probe teams in July after party cadres halted Maoist plenum demanding investigation into financial irregularities by party leaders and in People´s Liberation Army (PLA) cantonments.

The three-member commission led by Post Bahadur Bogati had been assigned to investigate financial irregularities in cantonments and other one is under the leadership of party standing committee member Sherchan who has been assigned to investigate financial irregularities by party leaders.

According to Sherchan, complains were registered against both high and low ranking Maoist leaders.

The party cadres have been criticizing their leaders and blaming them of involvement in corruption. They also accused party leaders of forgetting the dreams of "martyrs" and of deviating from party ideology and spirit.

They also accused their leaders of acting like ´owner´ and treating them as ´slave´.
