SURKHET, Oct 18: Some bank notes found in Surkhet are without the Signature of the governor. Four new notes of10 rupees denomination, which were recently exchanged from Surkhet Multipurpose Cooperative by the Padma Khadka of Birendranagar, New Road were without the governor´s signature.
The notes with number of Ja 25-624519, Ja25-624501, Ja 25-624520 and one other note had no signature of the governor.
“I had exchanged new notes for the Dashain. Later I found that some of them do not have the signature on them,” Khadka said. She had exchanged Rs 1000 from the cooperative.
The Manager at Regional Office of Nepal Rastra Bank at Nepalgunj said that there was possibility of discrepancies in the new notes as it was directly supplied to the market by the printing company.
He also said that such small mistakes happen and should not be made a big issue. “We should not make it an issue as the NRB will collect the faulty banknotes,” said he.
Nevertheless, the branch manager of Rastriya Banijya Bank at Surkhet expressed his astonishment at the news of the notes without official signature. He said that they will report the issue to the central office.
