KATHMANDU, Oct. 17: Work progress of projects of national glory run in the fiscal year 2068/069 BS is satisfactory even if the political transition is being intensified.
The National Planning Commission (NPC) said that work progress of 17 different projects of national glory has moved ahead satisfactorily.
Vice-Chairman of the NPC, Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri told RSS that work progress of the national glory projects is satisfactory even if works could not be carried out to complete the projects in time.
Kathmandu-Tarai Madhes Fast Track, East-West Railway, Postal Highway, Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, North-South Highway (Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali), Melamchi Drinking Water Project, Mid-Hill Highway, Pokhara Regional Airport, among others, are projects of national glory.
Similarly, the government has also forwarded works of Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project, Sikta Irrigation Project, Ranijamara Irrigation Project, Babai Irrigation Project, among others, with high-priority by declaring them as national glory projects.
Of other projects of national pride, progress of Kathmandu-Tarai Madhes Fast Track was very good, according to the NPC.
Minister for Physical Planning and Works, Hridayesh Tripathy, said that 42 kilometers track of the Kathmandu-Tarai Madhes Fast Track has been already opened.
Minister Tripathy said 190 kilometers track of Mid-Hill Highway has been opened, compensation distribution in Dhanusha, Mahottari and Siraha district has been started by completing feasibility study of the East-West Railway.
The NPC said it did not get progress description of important projects-Sikta, Ranijamara and Babai and expressed concern over it.
Minister for Irrigation, Mahendra Yadav, said that the projects could not make progress as there was problem in allocating additional budget for them.
