BAGLUNG, Oct 16: One person died and nine others injured after a jeep swerved off and fell some 50 meters down from the road in Parbat on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Keyar Singh Gharti Chhetri of Ghamja-8. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a Myagdi based hospital, informed police.
The ill-fated jeep (Na 1 Ja 2133) en-route to Maldhunga, Parbat from Beni met with the accident near Phusse Khola, along the Maldhunga-Beni road section.
The injured are identified as, Karma Lama of Darwang-1, Myagdi, Sujal Hamal of Parbat, Sandesh Sunar of Dhairid-5, Sherab Lama, Darwang-1, Man Kumar Paija, Benjina GC of Dhairid, Ram Kandel of Kusma, Sharmila Hamal of Manjhfant-2 and Shobha KC of Baglung.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the district hospital, Beni. Sunar has been sent to Pokhara for further treatment.
After preliminary investigation, police assume that the accident occurred due to speeding. The jeep driver Kiran Pun has been absconding following the incident.
