REPUBLICA ONLINE

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The government on Thursday decided to accord recognition to veteran freedom fighter late Ram Hari Sharma after holding consultation with the bereaved family.

After a cabinet meeting held this morning, Information and Communications Minister Raj Kishor Yadav said the government decided to posthumously accord honor to Sharma, also known as the living martyr of the anti-Rana movement six decades ago, who passed away, a day earlier, aged 96.

The meeting also decided to change the names of three hospitals—Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Lahan Bal Hospital to Shahid Ramesh Mahato Bal Hospital and Gulariya Hospital to Bardiya District Hospital.

According Yadav, who is also a government spokesperson, the meeting decided to promote under secretary Hridaya Narayan Mishra at the land reforms ministry to the post of joint secretary.

Similarly, the meeting decided to form a five-member Far-West Development Commission headed by Jhapat Bohara. It also decided to extend the tenure of the taskforce earlier formed to collect data on the conflict-affected, till mid-April the next year.
