  Malls, shopping complexes announce schemes to attract Dashain shoppers

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: With Dashain at our doorsteps, malls and shopping complexes around the valley have announced special schemes to attract customers who go on a shopping spree during the festival.

Leading malls and shopping complexes like Civil Mall, Peoples Plaza, City Center, Time Square Mall, Maitidevi Complex, United World Trade Center and Sherpa Mall, among others, have introduced special gifts and other packages to the customers.

Civil Mall has launched ´Dashain Tihar Malamal Festival´ offer in which customers can get various gift hampers through a lucky draw. Under the scheme, customer buying goods worth more than Rs 1,000 get a lucky coupon through which they get a chance to win free drink, cash voucher, silver coins and home appliances every week, said Nishant Shrestha, head of marketing and communication at Civil Mall.

That is not all. Through the coupon, customers can also a free trip to Dubai and a Pulsar NS 200 bike through a lucky draw. They can also win diamond necklace and new Tata Indica V2 car through a lucky draw that will be conducted during Tihar. The scheme will be valid till November 13.

Similarly, Peoples Plaza Byapar Sangh has launched ´Dashain Tihar Bahar, Peoples Plaza ma Upaharai Upahar´ offer. Under the offer, customers buying goods worth Rs 1,000 get a coupon through which they can win attractive gifts. “We are providing Yamaha R15 as first prize, Yamaha FZS as second prize, Yamaha Crypton scooter as third and fourth prizes along with home appliances laptops, mobiles and camera, among other, through lucky draw,” said Basanta Parajuli, general secretary of Peoples Plaza Byapar Sangh. He also hoped that the scheme will boost sales by around 30 to 50 percent.

Stores at City Center, Kamal Pokhari are providing up to 60 percent discount for Dashain shoppers. “The stores are also introducing new brands to attract customers,” said Pampri GC, mall manager of City Center.

Similarly, stores at Sherpa Mall have announced festive discount of 10 to 50 percent discount for the festive season. The mall has 35 stores.

UWTC organized ´Mega Sale´ from September 25 to October 7 to make Dashain shopping easier for the customers. “We received a footfall of more than 35,000 during the sale period. We managed to record total transactions worth Rs 25 million,” said Sandip Hirachan, managing director of UWTC.

Direction Exhibition and Convention Center at UWTC is organizing ´Dashain Bazar´ from October 10 to 14 and ´Carpet Mega Sale´ from October 10 to 17. “All the stores at UWTC have introduced new arrivals for Dashain at discounted rate,” said Hirachan.

Maitidevi Complex, which is coming into operation within a few days, has announced ´Dashain Tihar Dhamaka´ under which customers purchasing goods worth more than Rs 500 can win various home appliances through scratch cards.
