  Bodies of girls missing in Koshi canal recovered

SAPTARI, Oct 8: Bodies of two girls, who went missing from Sunday evening after drowning in the Koshi canal at Deuri Bharuwa VDC in Saptari district, have been recovered on Monday.

Police had launched a search operation for the missing girls only from this morning only as water level in the canal was high.

Sangita Saha, 10, daughter of Budhan Saha of Basbitri VDC-8 in the district and Manisha Kumari Saha, 8, daughter of Sachinanda Saha of the same VDC had gone missing in the canal in course of taking bath on the occasion of Jitiya Festival.

A team from the Area Police Office, Hanumannagar, recovered their bodies near from a bridge situated around 25 meters far from the canal, according to Sub-Inspector, Manoj Raut.

The bodies have been sent to Rajbiraj based Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital for postmortem, Raut added.
