  SPORTS BRIEFS: Sindhu wins title

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Sindhu Sports Club won the title of the Saipal Six-A-Side Football Carnival with a 1-0 win over Gorkha Boys in the final match on Saturday. Tej Lama scored the decider as the winning team bagged Rs 50,000. Altogether 36 teams had participated in the tournament organized by Saipal Academy.

Financial support for footballer Lama

KATHMANDU
: Bauddha FC´s teenage footballer Kumar Lama received financial support on Saturday for the treatment of his malignant tumor that developed after knee injury during A-Division League match last season. Lama received Rs 111,200, which was collected from Nepalis living in the United States on the initiative of Nepali Congress.

NC leader Chakra Bahadur Thakuri handed over the amount to Lama amidst a function in Kathmandu. Haraibol Bhandari and Raju Lama from the US had provided the money for Lama´s treatment. According to the Lama´s family members, they have already spent Rs 1.5 million for his treatment.

Reliance wins handball title

KATHMANDU
: Reliance International Academy ´B´ lifted the title of the Second Inter School Boys´ Handball Championship on Saturday. Reliance defeated Ideal Model 15-12 in the final match while Jugal beat Bauddha Children Home 8-4 in the third place playoff. Amosh Shrestha, who top scored in the tournament with 16 goals, was adjudged the best player.
