  U-14 team leaves for Japan

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: A 20-member U-14 football team of Nepal including 16 players and four officials left for Shizuoka, Japan on Saturday to participate in the Kizuna Project Japan-SAARC U-14 Football Exchange to be held from October 7 to 21.

Altogether 10 teams including eight SAARC countries and two teams of host Japan, Academy 1 and 2, will compete in the event.

The teams are divided into two groups. Nepal will take on Maldives and Japan Academy 2 on October 9, Pakistan on October 10 and Sri Lanka on October 11.

The Nepali team is led by ANFA assistant treasurer Rabindra Shrestha. Bal Gopal Maharjan is the coach and ANFA members Purusottam Adhikari and Ratna Kumar Shrestha have accompanied the team as members. ANFA officials including President Ganesh Thapa bade farewell to the team.

Selected players: Ashis Thada, Srijan Shrestha, Ananta Tamang, Aakash Thapa, Sudhan Thapa, Ujwal Chemjong, Hemanta Thapa Magar, Gaurab Budathoki, Ravi Bhandari, Bimal Gharti Magar, Suman Parajuli, Sugam Shrestha, Nishan Dhungana, Lalit Thapa, Sajan Rai and Shiva Subedi.
