Mom jumps in well with 2 kids, survives

RITESH TRIPATI

BIRGANJ, Oct 1: A woman beset by domestic problems has killed her two children in Bara district on Monday. The children died after their mother Aasha Patel threw them into a well near her house in Bhathauda.

The deceased have been identified as Golu Patel, 6, and Nabin Patel, 4.

However, Aasha who jumped into the well to commit suicide was rescued alive by police.

“We were able to save the mother but not the children,” said Police Inspector Anurag Dwivedi who had reached the spot after being informed by the locals.

According to Dwivedi, their preliminary investigation shows that Aasha had ended up committing such a horrible crime after being unable to endure her husband Shikendra Patel´s behaviour.

Patel used to beat up Aasha almost every day after drinking, police said.

Police have detained Aasha for killing the children.
