Laptop or a tablet? Tough choice!

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Sept 29:  A computer has long since transformed from a luxury to a necessity. We need it for almost every work that we do, be it for writing, researching, communicating, shopping or catching up on world events.

The technology has also been offering us something new and exciting each year. From a computer, we have progressed to laptops, notebooks, tablets and many more versions of it. Amongst other features, the portability of a laptop and the latest, a tablet, makes them very desirable.

A tablet’s size and weight makes it so much more convenient to travel with than a laptop. It can do whatever we require, so why would we not hasten to buy it?

Tirtha Raj, 25, says, “I would absolutely opt for a tablet because in this fast moving world we have to be fast too. Carrying a tablet around is very easy compared to carrying a huge bag of laptop. And since we can accomplish almost everything with a tablet than why should we prefer a laptop over it?”

However, Nirmal Kurtyel gives his vote for a laptop. He says, “I need a laptop. Tablets don’t have high graphics, and to play games, especially FIFA 13, it’s essential. So I would choose a laptop.”

22-year-old Rupak Raj Sunuwar agrees, “We, of course, need a laptop when it comes to playing games. How can we play games like FIFA, World of Warcraft, etc on a tablet?”

He further reasons, “Also I still need a keyboard to type. I’m not very comfortable using a touch screen to type: it takes me ages. Though I’m using a Smartphone, I don’t really like it. It’s taking me ages to type this message. I believe people don’t buy what they need these days. They tend to buy what other people buy.”

A laptop or a tablet. Since technology loves updating and has given us a tablet to use, most would probably choose it. On our Facebook page, Ayush Dhungel states, “I’d choose a tablet. The decision is easy; it’s like choosing between a desktop and a laptop. The price should be equal, though!&rdquo
