CHITWAN, Sept 28: CPN-Maoist cadres this morning vandalized the Janajagriti Higher Secondary School at Pithuwa in east Chitwan for running classes in defiance of the shutdown they had imposed in the district on Friday.
Four Maoist cadres vandalized school property, said Bishnu Kattel, a teacher at the school. The principal´s office, important files and documents, the photocopy machine and window panes have been damaged in the vandalism.
The school stated that the CPN-Maoist cadres started vandalizing the school property all of a sudden even as they were preparing to close the school as per their request.
The CPN-Maoist has announced a district-wide shutdown in Chitwan today in protest against the arrest of 13 of its cadres and leaders while trying to prevent vehicles with Indian registration number plates entering the district.
Normal life in Chitwan district has been affected due to the shutdown.
