Nepali Jutta Ghar: One-stop shop for Nepal-made shoes

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Nepali Jutta Ghar, a multi-Nepali-brand retail outlet, started its operation from Thursday at the shopping mall owned by Rastriya Nach Ghar in Jamal. The store is a one-stop destination for those looking to purchase shoes manufactured by different domestic companies.

The showroom, promoted by Nepal Leather Footwear and Goods Manufactures Association, was inaugurated by Suresh Basnet, president of Nepal Chamber of Commerce.

"The showroom has been opened for easy availability of shoes manufactured by different Nepali companies," said Surendra Parsad Dahal, president of Nepali Juta Ghar. "More of such stores will be opened in Patan, Kumaripati, Chabahil and Gongabu in the near future."

Dahal hoped the store would receive a warm public response, as "more Nepalis are becoming aware of locally manufactured shoes, raising their popularity in the market."

The showroom currently displays footwear manufactured by eight different Nepali brands, including, BF Dear Hill, Shikhar, Sky, Leather Wings, Koseli, Takura, Woodland and Cross Road. "These shoes are for both men and women and are designed for different purposes," Dahal said.

These shoes, ranging from casual and office wear to those designed for school children, are priced between Rs 800 and Rs 4,000.

Hom Nath Upadhyay, president of Leather Footwear and Goods Manufacturers Association of Nepal, expressed hope the store, where consumers can get wide variety of Nepal-made shoes, is likely to raise demand for locally manufactured shoes.
