  Policeman thrashed to death in Taplejung

TAPLEJUNG, Sept 27: A policeman has been killed and another injured when an unidentified group of assailants attacked a police patrol nearby the Dovan Area Police Office in Taplejung on Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as constable Bhupendra Acharya of Dhankuta district. He had been working at the Dovan Area Police Office. Acharya scummed to his injuries after the attack.

Chandra Dewan Rai, also a police constable, of Phidim Bazar-4, Panchathar has sustained injuries in the attack. He has been sent to Dharan for treatment.

According to an eyewitness, Man Bahadur Chengwang, the unidentified gang attacked the policemen as they were engrossed conserving between themselves near the police office.

According to him, they were severely beaten up at first and then stabbed with sharp weapons. Both have sustained multiple injuries on their bodies.

Lok Darshan Thapa, an inspector at the Area Police Office, said that a search operation is currently underway to nab the attackers.
