KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Eleven student organizations associated with the opposition parties have erected black flags at all the campuses under the Tribhuvan University (TU) on Monday.
According to spokesperson of the Nepal Students Union (NSU) UP Lamichhane, black flags have been erected at all the campuses under the TU across the nation demanding withdrawal of 10 per cent of fees recently increased by the TU.
Stating that the black flags erected at the campuses will not be removed unless the TU withdraws the decision of fee hike, Lamichhane said the student organizations today itself submitted a warning letter to the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) to implement previous agreement.
A delegation from the student organizations including the NSU, All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) and All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNISU)-Revolutionary had submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor on Sunday saying the fee hike made by the TU should be withdrawn immediately as it was impractical.
The student organizations have been putting forth different demands including TU should make a scientific educational calendar effective, TU should forward necessary process immediately to hold the elections of the student organizations and teachers of the TU should immediately stop running other colleges and taking classes in other colleges, among others.
