KATHMANDU, Sept 22: In a bid to expand market presence just ahead of the Dashain festival, Haier on Saturday launched a new series of refrigerators, LCD and LED television.
“In the refrigerator segment, we have introduced four different series: direct cool, frost free, chest freezers and upright chiller,” said Ashwini Todi, director of Orbit International, the sole authorized distributors of Haier brand home appliances and electronics for Nepal.
Haier direct cool refrigerator is a traditional model which comes with a single door and is low priced compared to the other series. The company has launched 12 different models in the price range between Rs 17,600 to Rs 27,000 under this segment.
According to Todi, Haier frost free refrigerator is an advanced version of direct cool which comes with latest technology, additional features and double- door. The company has launched five different models under this series and they are priced between Rs 29,400 to Rs 52,900.
Haier chest freezer, on the other hand, is designed specially to preserve food and other items in large volumes. “It is the first model which preserves food for as much long as 100 hours even without electricity,” Todi stated.
He said the seven models of refrigerators launched under this series have especially been manufactured targeting the developing markets, where the problem of power outage is rampant. Chest freezers are available in price range between Rs 27,000 to Rs 61,750.
Similarly, Haier upright chiller comes with multiple doors, super cooling capacity and stylish look. The company has launched three different models under this series and they cost Rs 37, 165 to Rs 82,830.
Apart from refrigerators, the company also launched five different models of Haier LCD television, which comes in sizes ranging from 32-inch to 55-inch. LCD televisions are priced between Rs 44,695 to Rs 188,220.
“Along with LCD, we also launched three new models of LED TV, which are available in sizes ranging from 24-imch to 42-inch,” said Todi. The newly introduced Haier LED is priced between Rs 32,930 to Rs 95,280.
According to Orbit International, it launched different models of LCD and LED televisions because growing number of Nepalis have been switching to new technology disposing traditional CRT televisions sets. “And the timing of the launch is perfect for us because the demand for home appliances rises during the Dashain festival,” said Todi.
