POKHARA, Sept 21: The scheduled Myagdi visit of former king Gyanendra Shah has been cancelled following a Myagdi banda called by various political parties to foil his trip to the district, on Friday.
Ex-king Shah was scheduled to visit local the Galeshwor temple in Myagdi today. The former monarch is currently on a weeklong ‘religious trip’ to Gandaki and Dhaulagiri zones. He arrived Pokhara on Thursday and currently residing at Fishtail Lodge in the city.
According to Arjun Basnet, coordinator of the promotion committee of Shah’s religious tour, Shah´s visit will begin on Saturday, despite the trip cancellation today.

Meanwhile, the Myagdi banda has been withdrawn following the cancellation of the proposed visit.
Questioning the motive behind Shah’s visit, various political parties have been holding protest programs with intent of barring him from coming to their districts.
Shahs is scheduled to visit various religious sites in Kaski, Myagdi, Parbat, Baglung, Tanahun and Syangja districts during his tour.
