  Garbage from Everest to be converted into idols

KATHMANDU, Sept. 20: The garbage collected in and around the Mount Everest would be used to carve out artistic idols.

The Hotel Annapurna and The Mind Tree have announced a joint project to utilize the garbage collected from the world´s highest peak during the previous years.

The project has been named ´Mount Everest 8848 Art Project´.

Around two tons of garbage collected in the highest summit by Mountaineers´ Association, Eco Himal and mountaineers has been handed over to a team of the artists at a programme in the capital on Thursday.

The artists would prepare 75 idols within a month and that the idols would be kept in exhibition in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Artists Sudarshan Rana, Dr Laya Mainali, Sunita Rana, Bhuwan Thapa, Raju Pithakoti, Tara Prasad Ojha, Lal Kaji Lama, Krishna Bahadur Thing, Devendra Thumkeli and Saroj Thapa among others are assigned for the purpose.
