Landslide victims deprived of relief in Jajarkot

RSS

JAJARKOT, Sept 20: As many as 38 landslide victim families at Chiuri, Dandagaun VDC Ward. No. 3 have been deprived of getting relief when the Chief District Officer (CDO) did not return from his training in Kathmandu.

A meeting of the Natural Disaster Relief Committee held on August 31 had decided to provide the relief of Rs. 2,000 and 50 kg of rice to each of the victim families but it has not been distributed due to the indifference of the local administration.

The landslide victims were not provided with the relief when CDO Krishnashyam Budhathoki did not return to the district even after three weeks.

A team from the local administration, District Development Committee, political parties active in the district and stakeholders had visited the site at Chiuri in the last week of August after the village had been in the risk of landslide.

The team had referred to provide the relief after the observation but could not be distributed in the absence of CDO, said Officiating CDO Hari Prasad Sharma.
