KATHMANDU, Sept. 17: The subsidy the government provided to the students on cooking gas and kerosene has come into effect from today.
The decision to this end was taken by the Council of Ministers on September 13.
The Government had decided about the student discount on cooking gas and kerosene as per the recommendation of a committee led by Member of the National Planning Commission Janak Raj Sharma.
According to the government decision, the students from grade 11 to Masters´ level from the community and government colleges would enjoy the facility- Rs 250 discount in a gas cylinder and Rs 10 in a letre of kerosene.
The discount card would be provided by the respective colleges to the students below 26 years and of poor economic status.
The card would be renewed on the basis of the exam entrance card provided by the respective office of the controller of exam.
If a person is pursuing education in two colleges, he/she would be entitled this facility only by a single college.
Similarly, the student to receive the discount should announce that he/she has not taken allowance from any institutions.
The agreement letter to this regard would be prepared by the Ministry of Education.
