PM asks Prez to remain within constitutional boundary
REPUBLICA
POKHARA, Sept 17: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has argued that the president cannot take any move beyond what constitution has permitted him to do.
"President is supposed to exercise his constitutional rights. He cannot exercise powers more than what has been permitted by the constitution" Bhattarai told media persons at Pokhara Airport, Monday.
Bhattarai, who arrived in Pokhara to attend the 13th general convention of Pokhara University, also ruled out the possibility of ´coup´ as reported in some media. "No one can enforce coup [in Nepal]. No one can subvert democracy," he further argued.
The prime minister also complained that the government had to face problems due to failure of the president to endorse the ordinances forwarded to him by the government.
"The practices of removing constitutional difficulties through ordinances in the absence of parliament exists everywhere," he argued.
