Chitwan receives satisfactory business in lean period
CHITWAN, Sept 17: Chitwan based hoteliers experienced ´satisfactory´ business during a lean period this year. Although, the business was limited to few Indian tourist last year, this year large numbers of Nepalis as well as foreigners visited Sauraha in monsoon.
Damodar Regmi, a tourism entrepreneur said that most of the hotels enjoyed satisfactory occupancy rate during the monsoon. With the increasing number of visitors, the elephants also carried 2-3 trips despite the lean period.
Hotelier Rammani Khanal said even small hotels were able to do good business. “At least 50 percent of the rooms were occupied in most of the hotels,” said he.
Keshab Lamsal at Bharatpur Airport said that the arrival of domestic as well as foreign tourist was good starting from the month of July.
President of Regional Hotel Association, Shankar Sainju said the arrival of Chinese tourist was encouraging till the month of August. According to him, the average tourist arrival was around 500 per day. “The booking of October is almost 100 percent in most of the hotels,” added he.
Chitwan is among the top three tourist destinations of the country. The special attraction of Chitwan includes elephant ride, jungle safari, boating among others. According to Chitwan National park, more than 170,000 foreign tourists visited the national park in last fiscal year.
