KHOTANG, Sept 12: The Khotang chapter of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) has threatened to ban the UML dissident group led by CPN-UML Vice-chairman Ashok Rai in his own district on Wednesday.
The sixth extended meeting of the district chapter of the ANNFSU took a decision to this effect, accusing the UML Vice-chairman of trying to disrupt social harmony.
Stating that no body has favored single identity-based federalism in district ANNFSU committee, its vice-chairman Milan Rai said the meeting concluded that multi-ethnicity based federalism will be suitable for the country.
Earlier, the UML Khotang district committee had rejected single identity-based federalism. In the aftermath of Constituent Assembly dissolution, the UML has faced internal contradiction on the subject of federalism, with the party establishment favoring multiple identity-based federalism while the leaders belonging to ethnic and Madhesi communities lobbying for single identity-based federalism.
