  Five held over twin burglaries

BIRATNAGAR, Sept 11: Police on Tuesday arrested a gang of five burglars in connection with a couple cases of house burglaries in Biratnagar.

Morang police arrested police constable Gautam Majhi of Aurabani-4, Sunsari, Nisnarayan Majhi of Aaurabani-6, Indrajit Yadav of Aurabani-5, Shrisha Chaudhary of Aurabani-3 and Rajan Kamat of Biratnagar-16 charging them with burglaries.

Police made them  public at the District Administration Office, Morang, amidst a press conference this afternoon.

Police recovered a motorcycle with the registration number plate (Ko 4 Pa 5078), two laptop computers, two sets of mobile phones, a still camera, a movie camera, an LG DVD player, a homemade pistol, few rounds of bullets and Rs 3,650 in cash from the arrestees, informed Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, police spokesperson and deputy superintendent of Morang police.

Poilce said the gang had broken into the houses of Hitendra Agharwal and Kul Chandra Rijal at Biratnagar-4 and made away with the articles. "The same gang is involved in both the incidents o f burglaries," said Chaturvedi, adding, "We are interrogating them and searching for other culprits involved."

Police constable Gautam is the king pin of the gang, according to police. The stolen goods were recovered from his sister Shrisha´s house.

The culprits have admitted to their crime during police interrogation, police informed.
