KATHMANDU, Sept 9: The Samajbadi Janata Party (SJP) has suspended the chairman of the party´s presidency Prem Bahadur Singh saying he was engaged in the so-called alliance led by chairman by UCPN-Maoist, for one year from September 8 from the chairman of the presidency and the member of the central working committee.
The meeting of the Central Committee chaired by member of the presidency Ganga Prasad Chaudhary decided to nominate Hikmat Bahadur Deuba as chairman of the presidency as per seniority in the party.
The party decided not to recognize the alliance saying it was headed towards political polarization and authoritarianism.
