Statute with multi-ethnic federalism possible: Minister Yadav
BIRATNAGAR, Sept 6: Information and Communications Minister Raj Kishor Yadav has said that a constitution based on multi-ethnicity and capacity could be issued.
Speaking in a news conference here this morning, Yadav, who is also the chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Republican) party, said that no party could backtrack from the 22-point and the eight-point agreements on federalism signed between the Madhes-centric and the major political parties in the past.
"Only those forces that are against federalism, have feudalist mindset and that faced defeat in the CA elections have floated the proposal of conducting a referendum. The best way to bail the country out of the present political impasse is election to a new Constituent Assembly (CA)," he stressed.
Minister Yadav, who is also the government spokesman, said the government could be changed only if there is agreement among the parties on the contentious issues of the constitution in a package.
Stating that the price of petroleum products should be adjusted in a scientific manner, he claimed that a way out of the problem would be found soon.
He said that talks were being held with the various armed outfits operating in the Tarai and eastern hills of the country as per the agreement among the four major political parties and also hoped that these groups will join open politics.
