PYUTHAN, Aug 21: Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of the Nepali Congress, has imposed a district-wide general strike in Pyuthan on Tuesday, calling for the resignation of the present care-taker government.
Public transport vehicles have stayed off the road due to the day-long banda and the market is partially open.
Acting president of the Dal, Madhav Bhandari, said that his organization has called for a day-long bandh today in protest against care-taker Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai trying to run the country through ordinances by misusing his authority.
Activists of Nepal Tarun Dal and the Nepal Students Union have descended on the streets here to enforce the shutdown. They are forcing shopkeepers and educational institutes to shut down.
