HONG KONG, Aug 20: The Chinese international non-government organization (INGO) Asia Pacific Exchange Cooperation (APEC) that came into controversy after it brought in a proposal to invest US $3 billion in Lumbini has become active again to push its project.

Executive director of APEC, Xiao Wunan, has gone on to New Delhi to hold discussions with Indian leaders after holding a meeting with UCPN(Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Shortly after the visit here of Chinese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Fu Wing, an APEC delegation comprising Executive Director Xiao, other officials and investors in the multi-billion dollar project had arrived in Kathmandu.

The delegation that landed in Kathmandu on Sunday held a meeting at Maoist party headquarters at Parisdanda.

Maoist Standing Committee member Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Posta Bahadur Bogati were present at the meeting. On the occasion, Xiao asked Dahal to take the initiative to help resume work related to the Lumbini project.

According to Minister Bogati, Dahal assured Xiao that he would take the initiative to forge an understanding among political parties for the development of Lumbini. While Xiao flew on to New Delhi on Monday, other members of the delegation went to Lumbini.
