  PM Bhattarai arrives in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Aug 15:
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has arrived in Chitwan to visit the Chepang community in Siddhi here in the district, on Wednesday.

Security has been tightened in the district during his visit, informed the district police office, Chitwan. PM Bhattarai flew to Bharatpur on a Buddha Air plane this afternoon.

He will inspect the police academy in Bharatpur before heading to Siddhi. Chitwan police chief Bhupal Kumar Bhandari has reached Siddhi two days ago for security arrangements.

A team from the Nepal Army in Bharatpur is also heading to Siddhi. The Chepang community in the district has been facing acute famine following a drought earlier this year.

During his visit, PM Bhattarai will distribute 1000 kgs of rice as food relief and blankets among the distraught Chepang households.

According to Bishwadeep Pandey, the PM´s aide, Bhattarai is spending Rs 30 million from the Poverty Alleviation Fund to support the livelihood of the community.

Meanwhile, activists of youth and student wings of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have waved black flags to Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai outside Bharatpur airport.

They gathered outside the airport, chanted slogans against the prime minister and waved black flags to him to press for his resignation.
