KATHMANDU, Aug 11
: Agitating transport entrepreneurs called off transport strike from today after the government agreed to address their 14 out of 15-point demand.

The meeting between the government and transporters on Saturday agreed to form a taskforce to address the remaining one point of the demand. The entrepreneurs demanded that the government annul delegation of authority to the traffic police to fine motorists will be resolved through taskforce.

"We will address the remaining demand as per the recommendation by the taskforce," Tulsi Prasad Sitaula, secretary at the Ministry of Physical Planning, Works and Transport Management (MoPPWTM) told Republica after the meeting.

Four transport unions including National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs (NFNTE), All Nepal Transport Workers Association, Nepal Yatayat Workers Association and Nepal Yatayat Independent Workers´ Association had jointly declared indefinite strike from August 10, accusing the government of failing to address the problems of transport entrepreneurs.
