RSS

CHITWAN, Aug. 11: Rivers flowing through the buffer zone in Chitwan National Park have eroded around 1,500 bighas of land.

A report shows the Park has yet to provide around Rs. 25 million as compensation to the flood affected families, as provided for in the Park Regulation Act.

The park administration compensated 41 farmer families by providing them Rs. 4 million though it has still to provide compensation of around Rs. 25 million, said Tikaram Paudel, Assistant Conservation Officer.

The data was prepared as per the report of conservation activist Bijay Bhujel, coordinator of a team formed to study the damages, and the evaluation of the Land Revenue Office, Chitwan.

A family is provided Rs. 12,000 to 250,000 as per the damage, said Paudel
