NC to form sports wing soon

REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Following in the footsteps of UCPN (Maoist) and CPN (UML), Nepali Congress (NC) announced the formation of the party´s sister wing in the sports sector.

The party´s Central Sports Department Coordinator Dhana Raj Gurung said that NC would set up Democratic Sports Federation to unite democratic forces working in the sports sector.

Gurung made the announcement during an interaction program organized by the department at the party headquarters in Sanepa on Thursday. "CPN (UML) and UCPN (Maoist) have sports wing but we didn´t have one till now. It´ll be formed soon," said Gurung. Gurung alleged NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama of politicizing sports and said NC is in no mood to tolerate that.

During the program, NC President Sushil Koirala said that NC would now work to ensure better facilities for athletes. He praised Nepali athletes for their successes despite dismal facilities.
