  Visiting Australian secy meets PM, FM

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Visiting Australian Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs Richard Marles on Tuesday paid courtesy calls on Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha.

At a meeting held in Singha Durbar, Marles and Bhattarai discussed the current political situation and other areas of bilateral concern.

According to the prime minister´s office, Marles enquired about the ongoing peace process and political situation after the demise of the Constituent Assembly (CA). Marles also held separate meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shrestha at the latter´s office in Singha Durbar.

According to a press statement issued by the foreign ministry, Marles assured of the Australian government´s continued support to Nepal.

On the occasion, Minister Shrestha while appreciating the Australian government´s support expressed hope that such cooperation would be further diversified in the days to come.
