KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Visiting Australian Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Islands Affairs and Foreign Affairs Richard Marles has expressed the commitments to providing financial assistance to the Tilganga Eye Hospital as much as possible.
Richard visited the hospital Tuesday morning and pledged for all the possible support to the hospital. On the occasion, he took information about the hospital situation.
Hospital Chief Dr. Sanduk Ruit familiarized Richard about the hospital activities, number of patients visiting the hospital and condition of its technical and physical infrastructure, among others, Ruit´s aide Dinesh Pokhrel told RSS.
The Australian Government is providing necessary modern equipments to the hospital.Similarly, a non-government office named Fred Hollows Foundation, Australia is also extending necessary support to the Hospital, Pokhrel said.
Meanwhile, Richard today itself also visited Tripadma Higher Secondary School. The school building was constructed on earthquake resistance method with the support from the Australian Government.
Richard, who had arrived here on Monday on his two-day visit to Nepal, returned home this afternoon.
Ambassador of Australia to Nepal, Susan Grace, senior officers at the Embassy and officials at the Foreign Ministry were at Tribhuvan International Airport to see-off Richard.
